PRESS RELEASE - The Battle of Crug Mawr Cardigan 1136

PRESS RELEASE

“The Battle of Crug Mawr Cardigan 1136”
New Welsh History Book Released Today

A gripping new book about the Battle of Crug Mawr at Cardigan, written by historian Leonard James, has been released today by Bretwalda Books as a printed book and ebook.
A book about the bloody Battle of Crug Mawr, fought near Cardigan, a key turning point in the Anglo-Welsh Wars of the 12th century.
The sweeping victory of the Welsh at Cardigan was historic. It not only put the victor, Owain Gwynedd in a position to rule Wales free of English domination, it also marked the arrival on the battlefields of Europe of a new, deadly and uniquely Welsh weapon: the longbow.
A Welsh revolt against Norman rule had begun in south Wales, where on 1 January 1136 the Welsh won a victory over the local Norman forces at the Battle of Llwchwr. This led to an invasion by the forces of Gwynedd, led by Owain Gwynedd and Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd, sons of the king of Gwynedd, Gruffydd ap Cynan. They made an alliance with Gruffydd ap Rhys of Deheubarth, then swept on for Cardigan. There they met the combined forces of all the Normans in South Wales. The resulting battle was vicious and historic
This book brings an exciting new look to the Anglo-Welsh Wars. The course of the war is given, but the emphasis is on the battle and the men who fought there. There are detailed analyses of weapons, tactics and strategies, tactical diagrams explain how the troops formed up and moved, and a study of the commanders. The course of the battle is followed with the aid of maps, relating to the ground today. The aftermath of the battle, its effects and importance to the progress of the war are then described.
Author Leonard Jaems says “I was delighted to write this book as I have long had an interest in medieval warfare. Handling replica weapons and armour has allowed me to gain new respect for the men who fought here.”

About the Author
Leonard James is an author of military books. He comes from a military family that has fought in every major war since at least the Crimean War, and probably before that. His forebears were mostly cavalrymen, though his father served in the RAF. Leonard has made a particular study of battlefields in Britain, walking over dozens of them to get an eye for ground. He has also handled genuine and replica weapons to better understand the use of pre-modern weapons and the men who wielded them.

A forgotten Pharaoh (1334 BC)

A forgotten Pharaoh (1334 BC)
Amenhotep IV became Pharaoh of Egypt in 1351 BC, inheriting the title from his father Amenhotep III. The name “Amenhotep” is a tribute to Amun-Ra, the most popular of the many Egyptian gods of the time. All priests were powerful in ancient Egypt, but the priests of Amun-Ra were the most powerful of all.
Most Pharaohs, before and after Amenhotep IV, were content to accept the fact that priests had almost as much power and influence as they did themselves. But young Amenhotep was different. Soon after he became Pharaoh, he made all the priests redundant. He set about eradicating all references to Amun-Ra, and replacing them with the name of a new deity – the Aten. The Aten was represented as a Sun-disk – as far superior to the other gods as the Sun was superior to the stars. Aten-worship became mandatory, while worship of other gods was outlawed.
The Pharaoh changed his name to Akhenaten in honour of the new god, and moved his capital from Thebes to a new city 400 kilometres away called Akhetaten. The new capital was filled with images of the Aten – and of Akhenaten himself, who was the Aten’s living prophet on Earth.
At this distance in time, Akhenaten’s motives are unclear. Some people see him as an enlightened religious reformer who was centuries ahead of his time – a forerunner of the monotheistic religions of today. Others see him as a cynical megalomaniac who swept away the old religion in order to consolidate his own power-base. Of the two views, the second was more prevalent among his contemporaries. But were they correct?

Product Description

Preface by Nick Redfern

JFK, the Bilderberg Group and the New World Order – conspiracy theories abound on today’s internet, but they are nothing new. Taking a long-term view reveals century after century of covert conspiracies, murder plots and political intrigues. The history of the world is riddled with hidden agendas, scheming politicians and secretive organisations.

Did the U.S. government fake the 9/11 terror attacks? Was the British establishment behind the death of Diana, Princess of Wales? Conspiracy theories like these may be a modern phenomenon, but the basic idea – that world events are controlled by cynically duplicitous schemers – is as old as history. When the heir to the English throne died in 1120, they said it was an accident – but it was an accident from which certain people benefited a great deal. When the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939, it was in response to blatant Polish aggression... which just happened to be the work of Nazi soldiers dressed in Polish uniforms. As Niccolò Machiavelli said 500 years ago, “the end justifies the means”. History is often dismissed as a dull subject, but it leaps into all-too-contemporary life when seen through the eyes of a Conspiracy Theorist! This fast-paced account tells you everything you need to know about the convenient accidents, false flag operations and hidden agendas that have shaped the course of history.

Author Interview with Dr Lee Rotherham about his new book "The Discerning Gentleman's Guide to His Majesty's North American Colonies"

The Past, as they say, is Another Country. Now there is a guide book to North America as it was during Revolutionary Times. Written by Dr Lee Rotherham this book tells the modern reader everything they would need to know when visiting North America 250 years ago.
Written as if it were a guide book to be used by a visiting European, and illustrated, this book is the essential guidebook to Revolutionary America.
Satisfied user Charles James Fox says “A gentleman is taught never to run. He might make an exception when pursued by a band of Cree warriors after his scalp. And why should you be wary of accepting an invitation to a tea party in Boston, why might you want to find some fur; why are the rebel colonies rebelling; why should you watch your watch when you meet George Washington, and just what is the correct etiquette for using a dessert spoon in a log cabin? The essential visitor’s guide.”
So this handbook is part survival guide, part tome to assist in cultural acclimatisation, part aide-memoire to help manage expectations in what remains a frontier land.
The book contains added War of 1812 bicentenary flavouring and is being launched to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the writing of “The Star Spangled Banner”.

About the Author
Dr Lee Rotherham is an historian with two postgraduate degrees on Québec. His survival skills were honed by idly wandering around Montréal during its worst winter on record. An army reservist, it’s thus appropriate that from his dealings with the Canadian Armed Forces he is a Member of the Order of Good Cheer/L’Ordre du Bon Temps. This is a Nova Scotia fraternity, originally set up by Samuel de Champlain, which commemorates the terrible winters of the first colonists and the social environment that got them through it. With beer, his accent betrays an alarming French Canadian twang.

The Nazis and Operation Himmler (1939)

The Nazis and Operation Himmler (1939)
The Second World War was triggered by a single event – the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany on 1 September 1939. Ostensibly, this was a legitimate act of self-defence – a response to Polish aggression against Germany. But in reality there was no such aggression – it was a classic case of a False Flag operation. Just over a week before the invasion, on 22 August 1939, Hitler told his military commanders: “The start of the conflict will be accomplished through suitable propaganda. Its credibility is immaterial, its legality lies in victory.”
The plan was the brainchild of the notorious Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, and historians refer to it as Operation Himmler for that reason. Dozens of attacks were carried out by the SS and other German troops, dressed in Polish uniforms, against German targets along the border with Poland. Dead bodies, also dressed in Polish uniforms, were left behind with suitably convincing bullet wounds. But in reality the victims had been dead for some time – inmates of concentration camps who had been killed by lethal injection. With characteristic heartlessness, the Nazis referred to such bodies as “canned meat”.

NEW PAPERBACK - A Spotter's Guide to Sound Government Policies

It is alarming to think that people once knew what Conservatism meant and what it stood for, and how much since then doubt has set in.
How radical is the Conservative Party today, compared with what it should be? What proposals would really shake up Whitehall and Brussels, spark up business, and fire up the economy? What policies would really galvanize the nation, break the stale consensus, and engage an electorate today indifferent to politics and distrustful of politicians?
A senior backbencher, a leading policy guerillista, and Margaret Thatcher’s eminent lieutenant here get together to suggest a platform for the next Government. This pocket guide helps the reader to measure the inventiveness of the Conservatives and other parties as they set out their manifesto stall.
This book suggests one hundred ideas to put the party back on track, to reconnect with what average voters beyond the W11 postcode hope for and aspire to, and what they expect Government to do to help.
Not everyone will agree with everything in these pages, nor is the list a complete one. Nor do the authors confine their aspirations to the Conservative Party alone: with the nation’s needs uppermost, they would be delighted to see such proposals adopted across the political divide.

Foreword by Lord Tebbit.

NEW EBOOK - The Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident (Bretwalda UFO Files Book 4)

The term “Britain’s Roswell” has been used to describe a number of UFO cases in the British Isles. But only one case comes close to the Roswell crash. This case is the Rendlesham Forest Incident; where in the 1500-hectare mixed woodland in Suffolk, England, a series of mysterious lights were seen in the vicinity of the twin bases of RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge, both used at the time by the US Air Force.
According to accounts between December 26 and December 29, 1980, multiple UFOs were encountered by USAF personnel, including a landed triangular craft. The evidence for the unexplained phenomena in Rendlesham Forest is substantial, including a tape recording, a memorandum written for the Ministry of Defence, as well as radiation readings at the alleged landing site of the craft.
In this volume of the UFO Files we will look at all the evidence and consider whether the Rendlesham Forest Incident is really Britain’s Roswell; a case that could potentially blow the lid off a government conspiracy to cover-up the existence of extra-terrestrial life visiting earth; or just a massive misinterpretation of conventional phenomena.
So what really happened out in Rendlesham Forest? Read on to find out.
