The Staite of Britain on Facebook
We have opened a new Facebook page for our new political book - The Staite of Britain.
A controversial and outspoken critique of the world of British politics by a key political insider.
In this highly readable book, one of politics most insightful right of centre figures gives his views on where Britain is going under the leadership of David Cameron.
Covering a wide range of policy topics, Edward Staite picks up the story after the formation of the Coalition Government formed in the wake of the 2010 British General Election. He looks at the way Conservative and LibDem politicians manoeuvred as they tried to accustom themselves to this novel form of government to gain the trust of the public, establish a coherent policy framework and still maintain separate identities for the parties. He analyses how the Labour Party is seeking to rebuild itself after the electoral disaster, and the reasons why Ed Miliband is making such heavy weather of the task. The book peers into the future of the Cameron-Clegg government, analysing the behind the scenes deals as well as the announcements made in public.
This book combines serious political thought with an entertaining writing style that has made Edward Staite one of the more popular bloggers on the centre right of the political spectrum.

He spent two years as George Osborne’s spokesman, advised David Cameron on strategic communications and was Boris Johnson’s press secretary during the 2008 mayoral election. How To Be a Successful Election Candidate
We are please to announce the publication of our first political book.
How to be a Successful Election Candidate
by Rupert Matthews
A simple, step by step guide on how to be a winning election candidate by one of the best campaign managers in the business.
After over 25 years of campaigning experience, Rupert Matthews has finally decided to tell all. Whether you are standing for local council, parliament or other elected office, this is the book for you.
From how to dress for the public to how to deal with the press, from how to write leaflets to how to organise a petition, Rupert covers all the basics of running a successful political campaign. He also includes easy to follow, step by step guidance to the legal minefield that is modern political campaigning. Rupert also spills the beans on the darker arts of campaigning, explaining the tricks and turns of the backroom boys that are essential to any winning candidate, but which rarely get talked about and are never acknowledged in public.
As Rupert says
“There is a world of difference between a candidate with a good message and one who actually gets elected to office. Always remember, you want to be ELECTED.”
About the Writer
Rupert Matthews is a former staffer at Conservative Central Office who has acted as a freelance campaign manager on parliamentary by elections. He has stood himself as a candidate at Council, Parliamentary and European elections. He is recognised by friends and foes alike as one of the most dynamic and innovative political campaign managers in the business.
The printed book will be available on Amazon from 30 April 2011. Watch this space for an announcement about the ebook edition.
